This series consists of copies of letters sent and letters received by the Superintendent and Chief Clerk of the Pierre Indian School. The majority of the correspondence is with the Director of the Aberdeen Area Office, superintendents of Indian agencies, Commissioner of Indian Affairs, business firms, parents of school children, employees, other government agencies, and the public. Subject areas relate to most aspects of school and agency administration and include monthly outpatient reports, school progress reports, instructions and circulars regarding policy, contracts with commercial firms, enrollment of pupils, and related correspondence and reports. Included within these records are the minutes of the Joint Conference on Employment Opportunities for Indians held at Aberdeen, South Dakota, November 1-2, 1950.
